My field is the analysis of firm size, market power, competition, and public policies at different levels of supply chains.
To that end, I use so called "Structural Models of Empirical IO", which allow the causal analysis using economic theory, statistics, and big data sets.
Research Questions
Do minimum wages increase real income of households?
Do retail mergers decrease or increase prices?
What are the sources of cost savings from retail mergers: buyer power or efficiency gains (warehouses + transport costs)?
How much of the cost increases do retailers pass-on to consumers in form of prices and variety?
Do multi-product firms exploit switching costs from brand loyalty?
What role do switching costs from brand loyalty play in cases of mergers and taxation?
How do firm size and illegal cartels affect prices at different levels of the supply chain?
